Camel

Camel is a premium blend of the finest quality tobacco that provides genuine smoking pleasure because of its distinctive flavor and smoothness. Camel was the most popular cigarette brand in the 1920-s and until the middle of 1930-s. In the 1960-s the appearance of the pack was modified with changes in the print and the number of pyramids (there was only one left) but suddenly this caused a decrease in sales, which made the management change their mind and the original pack was reestablished. Camel has also appeared in literature - in the novel «Still life with Woodpecker», in which, according to the review, a love story happens inside a pack of cigarettes.

Joe Camel is a name of a cartoon character that was used in Camel advertising campaigns for a long time until there were too many lawsuits for the company to settle. The lawsuits resulted from an independent research that established Old Joe was a more recognizable figure than such cartoon characters and Mickey Mouse and Cinderella. In 1997 the company agreed to discontinue the use of this image in advertisements, but the lovable image of Old Joe is still associated with these cigarettes.
